What Americans Do Online: Social Media And Games Dominate Activity

Nielsenwire. (2010, August 2). What Americans Do Online: Social Media and Games Dominate Activity. Retrieved from http://blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/online_mobile/what-americans-do-online-social-media-and-games-dominate-activity/.

According to the Nielsen Company's research, about 36 percent of Americans spent their time communicating and networking across social networks, blogs, personal email and instant messaging.
The topic of this blog is to present the research results on what Americans do online, and the purpose of this study is to show Americans that social networking and gaming online were the top two activities that people in the United States engaged in.This research points out that Americans spends a third of their online time, which is about 36 percent, communicating and networking across social networks, blogs, personal email and instant messaging. Even though gaming online beats emailing among Americans' time on the internet, emailing is still highly used. The Nielsen Company collected these information through online categories visited from PC/laptops. I think that the usefulness of this information is that it shows how much social media plays a role in the lives of Americans nowadays.
