"Where I Lived and What I Lived For" By Henry David Thoreau

"Where I Lived and What I Lived For" is an essay by Henry David Thoreau. In this essay, Thoreau writes about his experience of living in the woods, away from society. He lived deliberately. All Thoreau wants was simplicity and the essentials of life. He hated railroads, post offices, and never read a newspaper. He found those kinds of technology to be unnecessary. Enjoying life out in nature was his ideal way of life and the way he thinks life should be.
Thoreau's essay is related to social media because nowadays people are all so caught up on technology and the internet that they forget about the essence of life. They think the internet is their world now, and the real "outside" world in the wild is left out. People can communicate easier and faster, transportation is improving, and information gets out immediately. Social Media has really influenced people in a way that they don't realize that is not good for them because it is taking over their life. Sure, it is the technology of the century, but people abuse it, and if it continues on, it will out turn out good.
